The author, who was born in Barcelona, studied Law in the same city, and afterwards he completed his training in London where he got specialized in Sociology. After having worked in the banking sector, Eduardo Mendoza decided to move to New York where he worked as a translator in United Nations.
In 1945, while he was still in United States, his first novel got published "La verdad sobre el caso Savolta”, work with which he achieved a great succes among the American intellectual circles and received the Crítica award.
In 2010 he won the Planeta prize thanks to his novel "Riña de Gatos” and in 2015 he received the Kafka award. In 2016, he was honoured with the Cervantes award.
The students of 4th of Secundary have started to read one of his novels "Sin noticias de Gurb” in the reading workshop of the subject Spanish Language and literature.
Students will present a different ending of the novel, participating in a literary context in which the writer will be a member of the jury.
